Therapy Thursday

Thursdays are going to be that day that we asked a question or make a statement, that when answered, hopefully, will lead us to change something that will really make a difference in our lives.

This week you get mine, but next week, you are welcome to submit one for us to review.

Here it is:

QUESTION: “What is the one place that you could organize that would help your life the most?”

ANSWER FOR LAURA (and maybe you): My bedroom.

I know that may sound really funny to some.  How can your room get messy if you spend most of your time sleeping in it?  Well, those of you with children, or maybe a husband who just leaves things wherever, or maybe you are the problem, will understand.

If my kitchen is Grand Central Station, then my bedroom is the lobby of that station.

The girls take baths there everyday (sometimes twice.)  The baby shares a closet with me.  It is the place where clothes that are too big, too small, and “I don’t want to wear that to school,” live.  It is where everything that doesn’t have the perfect space, lives.  It is where clean laundry goes when it makes it upstairs, but not quite in the drawer where it belongs.  It is where pictures, over the last 15 years, are kept.  Baby blankets by the dozens grace its’ corners.  Yesterday’s, today’s and tomorrow’s  book reading is stacked on the bedside table.  A desk is located in the loft area, and it holds it’s own madness.

You get the idea.

Well, for the next four Thursdays, I am going to have my therapy session, right there in my own room.

Think of the money I will save.

Find your spot.  Maybe it is your car.  Maybe it is an area in your basement.  Not the whole basement, just one area.  Whatever it is, name the place, set the timer for 30 minutes and start cleaning it out.  If you don’t have 30 minutes on Thursdays, give it 15 minutes.  Start with trash, move to any clothing, stack the paper, and then start on the details.  Next week we will talk about the four things to bring into any room to begin to tackle it.

In the meantime, pick a room, and get started.

For tomorrow:

It is FAST-FIX FRIDAY.  You are going to love this quick tip.  If you have ever wanted to return something, but had no idea where the receipt was, tomorrow is for you.  This quick tip comes with a picture and ideas.  Don’t forget to turn in!!

Good luck on your space today!

~Laura
